Screenshots

This page will explain how to take screenshots and save them as .jpegs on your computer. A screenshot is simply a picture of everything that is on your computer screen.

To take a screen shot:
  1. Find the "PRT SCR" or "print screen" button on your keyboard. It's often to the right of all the function keys, but it will depend on your keyboard.
  2. Press it once. Nothing noticeable will happen.
  3. Now, open up the Paint programme.
  4. Go to edit, then paste. A picture of your computer screen should appear.
  5. You usually won't want a picture of your whole screen, just a part of it, so choose the crop tool, which looks like a small square made up of dashes.
  6. Drag the tool around the area you want to keep a picture of.
  7. Go to edit, then cut. This will remove the section you want to keep.
  8. Go to file, then new.
  9. It will ask you if you want to save the changes. Click "no".
  10. Go to edit, then paste. You should now have a new Paint document with just the section of your screen that you want to keep.
  11. Go to file, then save.
  12. Choose where you want to save the picture, give it a title and make sure you change the "Save as type" to "JPEG".

It is now saved to your computer and you can use it like any other picture. You could print it out, add it to a blog or wiki, or put it in a document, among other things.
